Focus of Advisory Activities and Client Base
Philip Lay is a co-founder and managing director at TCG Advisors. Philip works with CEOs, General Managers and their management teams in leading software, systems and service companies of all sizes and types.  Frequent clients include Autodesk, Compuware, HP, MentorGraphics, Rackspace, SAP and many other public and private companies. 

Philip is a visiting professor in high-tech market development at IESE business school in Barcelona, Spain.  He is a conference keynote speaker and panel moderator.  He has published a respected email newsletter, Under the Buzz, since 2000.  As a writer, Philip has had articles on stratetegic business issues published in many business and trade journals including Harvard Business Review:  "In a Downturn, Provoke Your Customers," in the March 2009 issue - co-authored with Partners Todd Hewlin and Geoffrey Moore. 

During the eighteen years he performed in executive and other roles, Philip founded and operated a security and communications software company: TGR Software, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Atlanta, Georgia.  TGR was acquired by its largest distributor after nine straight years of successful growth.  Earlier, Philip was country manager at Cincom Software and, prior to that; country sales manager at Informatics and corporate lending officer with Bank of America, also in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Philip started his career as an account manager in the DP Division of IBM UK in London, working with major insurance companies and brokers.

Philip graduated in French and History of Fine Arts in 1971 with honors from the Universities of Reading (UK) and Aix-en-Provence (France). In addition to his native English, he speaks French, Portuguese and Spanish.
